River Height, Flow & Temp

Click for Wakool River height, flow and temperature

Note:

This link shows the river characteristics of the Wakool at the bridge on the Barham-Moulamein Road, about 9km upstream from our bend. Our observations of this data, and what it means to the state of the river are as follows:

  • At 1.0m height the river bend is about normal; the backwater is full and the bend is about 50m across. The small Red Gum across the river (on the right hand side of the bend looking from camp) has water lapping at its feet. The river is navigable with some log bumping up and downstream.
  • At 1.1m and above you could clear the downstream logs easily with all craft
  • At 0.55m the backwater has emptied. Feel content to boat locally!

Any water temperature below 21 degrees C - hold your breath and run in!
