Sam and Hippy visiting by boat....at the very height of the flood (October 2016)

Sam and Hippy visiting the shed at 5.68m height...which was the peak. Water in the pump shed and in the bathroom but nothing in the main shed. Fabulous, and incredibly lucky as we missed trouble by 1/2 cm. This was a bigger flood than 1975 for this area.

The date was Sunday Oct 23rd 2016. Peak was Monday 24th....an amazing amount of water that just kept coming, and coming, and coming.....

About This Site

Diana, Jill, Hugh and Stephen purchased this block (Riverley, Cartwheel Bend) on July 11th 2003. We wanted a spot that was uniquely Australian, and for Stephen and Jill, reminded us of where we grew up. Our aim was to preserve and regenerate our piece of the Murray Darling system; to have it as a place where our friends and family could meet and also as a place of sanctuary - for us as well as the local flora and fauna.

It has done all of the above and more. We just hope now that we will see the rain, and floods, that will allow it to express its full array of diversity. Our farming families want the same!
